Dealing with a Hangover

At the Cosmopolitan event at the weekend A-list trainer Dalton Wong and health writer Kate Faithfull-Williams gave their advice on how to feel happier, healthier and slimmer in just 15 minutes per day.
With summer fast approaching; light nights, BBQs and summer parties, there are likely to be cocktails, beers and wines served. Here are some top tips from Dalton and Kate for dealing with a hangover...

1. Don't take a painkiller before you go to bed!
Although you might think you're attacking the problem before it starts, you're actually putting your body under more strain. When you drink alcohol your body has to break down the toxins etc, but if you have a painkiller as well your body then has even more chemicals to break down!

2. When you wake up in the morning have a glass of water.
This is the first thing yu should do when you wake up. If you can't quite tolerate plain water, you can always add a slice of cucumber, fresk lime and mint.

3. A pinch of salt in your glass will help you hydrate faster.
This is basic science and works through the process of osmosis!

4. Partake in some light activity.
Activities like yoga or pilates can help you sweat out any of the bad toxins in the body and recover faster, however make sure this is low intensity and high intensity workouts may have an adverse effect on your health!
