Having heard only a handful of
songs by Ellie Goulding, I will gladly admit that buying this album was a bit
of a gamble. Of course I previewed the 30-seconds-long song clips on the iTunes
store but in order to get the best possible deal, I scoured the internet in
search of the cheapest price and did what everyone does; I turned to eBay and trade-in
CD shops.
I purchased my copy of the album
from CEX for a mere £3 and put it in my car CD player. The first track
instantly drew me in with its mystical melody and intense drumming. I was
hooked. My favourite track on the album is without a doubt Explosions for the
dramatic build up and emotion in the song, however I would also list Don’t Say
A Word, My Blood and Only You as my top, and most listened to tracks.
Ellie Goulding has an interesting
vocal sound that is so different from other artists currently in the charts, an
impressive range of notes and a somewhat soft and charming sound at the same
time.
With a mixture of soft, soothing
songs and upbeat, feel-good tracks, this album definitely lives up to its
title, ‘Halcyon’ (meaning a period of time that was happy and peaceful). The
album is available in two editions, a standard version which has 13 tracks, and
a deluxe version which has 18 tracks - something that most artists are doing at
the moment; and I cannot stand! (but hey, that’s just my opinion)
Whether you’re an Ellie fan or
not, I would definitely recommend sampling the album on the iTunes store, you
might just surprise yourself. I have since gone on to buy her previous album, Bright Lights
Rating: 5/5
Recently it seems that superheroes are everywhere... The bf LOVES batman so he has a batman tshirt, belt buckle, cufflinks and now he wants a phone case! But it's also in the shops and of course the Big Bang Theory is also making geek chic cool. So it got me thinking and inspired me to make an outfit or two...
Well I don't know about you, but after such a busy week and weekend, I've had a lovely relaxing St Patricks day with my duvet and DVDs in the living room :-)
I'd LOVE to know what you got up to though

I've been watching a lot of Nigella's cookery shows on tv recently and there are SO many of her recipes that I am just dying to try but never really have the time (not to mention the fact that if I did, I would be the size of a house!) but there was one recipe that really jumped out at me - her peanut butter and sesame noodles!
The great thing about this recipe is that it can be eaten hot or cold and is great for a packed lunch too.
You will need:
egg noodles (I used pre cooked and just heated them)
bean sprouts
Pepper (any colour)
Spring onion
Sesame seeds
Sesame oil
Lime juice
Soy sauce
Peanut butter
Sweet chilli sauce
Method:
1. Put 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce, 2 tablespoons lime juice and a hefty serving (about 100g) peanut butter in a bowl and mix.
2. Put the beansprouts, red pepper, sliced spring onions and the noodles into a bowl.
Pour the dressing over them and mix thoroughly to coat everything well.
3. Sprinkle with the sesame seeds and serve.
(Quantities of noodles, bean sprouts, onion and pepper can vary according to preference)
Enjoy :-) x

Does anyone remember these from the 90s? The weird skirt-over-trousers combination?
I was thinking about them last night. I remember I had two pairs, one grey and one black, and I was gutted that I wasn't allowed to wear them to school. I wonder if they will ever make a comeback?
What do you think, hot or not??

As much as I'd like to go out and snap up a bargain or two in the after-Christmas sales, I'm not quite brave enough to face the hustle and bustle that comes with it. So I usually wait until the sea of people with the same agenda, have passed.
I finally managed to drag myself to the shop and thought I would show you my top buys...
Stewie griffin tshirt: RRP £6, I paid £3 (Prinark)
Set of 3 canvas 'Paris' prints: RRP £4, I paid £2 (Primark)

Amour necklace: RRP £10, I paid £3 (Accessorize)
Butterfly ring: RRP £8, I paid £2 (Accessorize)
Scarf: RRP £7.40, I paid £5.18 (Forever 21)

I've heard this phrase thrown around a lot recently and I'm not sure I completely agree with it...
Yes, it's a new year, and yes it's a new opportunity to better everything that went wrong last year, but I'm still going to have the same opinions, look the same and dress the same... If anything, it's 'New Me, New Approaches...'
So here's my resolutions list for 2013...
1) Blog!! Every time I say I'm gonna blog more, I don't. I go places and I take photos of things that I think 'awesome, this is going online', but I never get round to it! This time I SWEAR, I'm gonna do it!!
2) Clean out my closet! I have tons of clothes that I never wear and it doesn't help that I keep buying more. I'm sorting them into 4 categories... Keep, Sell, Charity and Trash. Looks like in gonna be on eBay for quite a while this month!
3) Be happy! I have a problem of letting things get to me... Well not anymore... F*** it! That's my new attitude... So what if they don't text me back, there's probably a good reason... So what if I miss the train, there'll be another one... So what if I can't find the perfect pair of jeans, i'll just wear a skirt!
4) Fight the flab! Eat properly and get a perfectly flat stomach. 'Nuff said.
5) Take more photos! Cherish each moment cos you never know what life has for you round the corner. I've made friends and lost friends this year, it happens, but this time I'm gonna appreciate what I've got, when I've got it!
6) Finally, stop living in the past. 2013 is a new year with so much to come :-D be happy and live life to the full. YOLO peeps!
Over and out x
